Why do coaching?

People come to coaching for so many reasons, but often the catalyst for beginning this kind of exploration is a desire for support around cultivating more (or less) of something that feels significant in terms of their overall happiness. 

This could be on a practical level, for instance clarifying or improving one’s professional life.  Or it could be something less tangible but equally important, like a sense of having more integrity or authenticity in one’s personal connections.

Many people are also drawn to coaching when there has been a significant change in their life, and they are looking for assistance as they consider this new way of being in the world.

I’ve partnered with clients who want to make progress on a variety goals, including:

  • Someone having difficulty communicating in their marriage

  • Someone wrestling with a career choice

  • Someone at an impasse in their writing

  • Someone struggling with processing their feelings

  • Someone eager to start a project but unable to get into action

How Coaching Works 

The essence of a coaching relationship is that it’s a partnership premised on accessing your innate intelligence and wisdom.  It’s all in there, even if it’s been obscured by years conditioning and looking outward for answers.

In coaching, we learn to bypass the narratives that keep us caught in old cycles and unable to realize the things we want most. 

What does that mean on a practical level?  The way I work depends on who I am working with – what are you bringing to look at, who you are and what kind of tools resonate most with you. 

A lot of the early work we’ll do is about identifying the habitual thinking that keeps you from doing the things you must want. The litany of “I can’t, I should, I have to” which we tend to believe as the gospel truth but is often revealed to be old and irrelevant.

Dismantling these stories and limiting beliefs often paves the way for new insights and possibilities.  A big part of this work involves finding alternative perspectives on recurring themes, perspectives that are not driven by the repetitive thought patterns that we all become so accustomed to.

When we work together, we’ll use an array of tools and methodologies to examine things from a fresh vantage point, one that is not solely reliant upon thinking that may be outdated and no longer serve you.

Sometimes our big brains are not our best allies, and there can be more useful and powerful ways to approach the life’s big questions.  In coaching we explore and make use of the full spectrum of your intelligence, including your imagination, your intuition, and the deep knowledge that lives in your body.

Packages & Pricing

Transformation is eminently possible, but not instantaneous. Building the understanding and musculature (internal and external) that leads to successful change takes commitment and consistency.

A typical coaching arc takes place over several months, while yoga instruction can either follow a similar path or be ongoing.  

During our initial consultation we’ll come up with a program that reflects your specific goals and develop a schedule that supports that. Sessions can be weekly or bi-weekly and are purchased in series of 4 for $1000.
